Wolfpaxriders - Club Coaches

Hammy Morison

Hammy has has been riding a bike since eh (??) or as long as he can remember! He has been coaching / instructing 12 years, 10 years teaching Mtb. When it comes to riding style the preference is free style, fast stuff, fast flowing trails with air time and drops. He has been with Wolfpax since 2007.

Hammy runs his own business, HooNin-MTB - mountain bike hire, guiding, skills coaching, mechanics, consultation.
He loves skiing windsurfing surfing, good tunes and ps3, don’t like cheats, liars, skin flints, bully’s and bad music

Jules Fincham

Jules is director and coach of Cycle Wild Scotland, and one of the UK's top outdoor adventure coaches. A senior tutor with the Scottish Mountain Bike Leader Association, he has worked closely with the SMBLA since the Association's foundation and has been influential in its development.

During 12 years at Glenmore Lodge, Sportscotland's national centre, Jules was responsible for creating and developing their MTB syllabus and facilities. His period as head of MTB at Glenmore Lodge saw Jules mastermind the design and build of the first purpose-built skills coaching trail in the UK. Fittingly, the new facility was named the Jules Fincham Trail.

In addition to training and assessing guides and aspirant guides, Jules regularly guides trips abroad, mostly in the Alps but also in Canada and Andalusia in Spain. He runs the Bike School based at Laggan's Wolftrax, where he is also the Head Coach and President of the Wolfpax MTB Club.

Alan Stewart

Hi I`m Alan (Rhona and Neils Dad) , I passed my cycling proficiency test in 1921 on a penny farthing. No but seriously I have always enjoyed cycling and was always on my bike in my youth.......had a bit of a break from it when children were young but as they got better on their bikes I thought I'd better keep up! (easier said than done). I did my TCL in February this year (08) and am about to do my MBL. I`ve learnt heaps from helping with Wolfpax
through Hammy and Jules and still have an awful lot more to learn!

When I`m not on my bike, I work as a Ski Patroller at Glenshee in the winter. I also work as aFire-fighter part time at our local fire station. I was a mechanic for a long time but didn¹t like it so did a qualification and am looking for a job in Health and Safety.

Robert McFarlane

I've been riding a mountain bike since I was in school spending most of the summer out in the woods building trails and riding. I have a penchant for going fast in a downhill direction though I don’t mind pedalling uphill. I started working for Scottish cycling in January but before that I worked at Nevis Range as the Downhill track manager maintaining and building the world cup course and also planning and design the route for the new red dh trails. During the winter I drove the piste machines and did the odd bit of work for ski school.

While working at Nevis Range I did my TCL with Jules and started doing some work taking groups out for Active schools in the evenings and school holidays. I did my level 2 cycle coaching in April and will be starting to work my way through doing all Discipline specific units. I will also be doing my MBL in august. When I’m not on the bike I enjoy skiing, music and tasty food. I don’t like broccoli or negative people.

Andrew Melton

Andrew is a somewhat obsessive born again mountain biker having discovered the delights of modern suspension bikes in 2006. Eschewing the normal mid life crisis options he has thrown himself quite literally into mastering the dark arts of the trail. This has been a rocky path littered with injuries and realisations about the ageing process.

Realising a desperate need for some training he has undertaken his trail cycle leader qualifications and Mountain bike leader training with Jules Fincham. He is due to do his MBL assessment over this winter and then will be looking to progress through the British Cycling coaching qualifications.

Being a psychotherapist with a special interest in education Andrew is particularly interested in the role mountain biking can play in promoting self esteem and also in the Psychology of peak performance.

Nicky Morison
Nicky has been riding since pre school (just a few years ago) and teaching / coaching for 4 years
2 years teaching Mtb. Her preferred riding style is xc free ride and has been with Wolfpax since 2008.

Nicky also helps hammy run HooNin-Mtb. She loves skiing, surfing, good tunes and does not like rude people or bad music.
